Facilities & Planning
Matt Cashman, Director of Facilities & Planning              Mary McDonnell, Administrative Assistant

The Concord School District has over 1 million square feet. Our maintenance team consists of qualified maintenance professionals consisting of a District Facilities Coordinator and six highly-qualified and licensed trade staff to ensure the safety of our students and staff.

Helping us maintain the highest levels of cleanliness and safety in our school buildings are 44 members of our custodial team.

Some exciting projects our team are working on include using "green" cleaning chemicals district-wide and helping to teach our students and staff energy-saving techniques. Other green programs being implemented include switching to recycled paper products (paper towels and bathroom tissue) and using micro-fiber cleaning cloths and mops.

Department Announcements
CURRENT PROJECTS

* Concord Elementary Consolidation:
  The District is in the middle of the design development phase of its design for three new elementary schools.  Construction is expected to start in Dec 2010/Jan 2011 and occupancy slated for September 2013.

* Rundlett Middle School HVAC Upgrade:  Renovation to the existing HVAC plant at the middle school is slated to begin in the winter of 2010.  The new system will be supplied by Concord Steam.  The steam will be converted to hot water and the entire ventilation system will be replaced.  Expected completion is late summer 2011.

* Summer Projects 2010:  Maintaining and upgrading our buildings for safety and code compliancy is our goal. We have several interior and exterior projects taking place throughout the district this summer. Some range from roof replacement, flooring upgrades, painting interiors, masonry repairs and mechanical systems tune ups and replacements. Roughly over 50% of the work is accomplished over the summer by our own maintenance and custodial staff.

* Green Initiative:
  • Recycling: We have had a successful first half of the year with single stream recycling at Concord High School.  We are extending the recycling effort with the help of the city's general services         division to the rest of our schools.
  • Green Cleaning: We are having great success with using green chemicals thought the district.
  • Energy Saving: Our Noresco Energy Management System is showing great savings in utility costs district wide.
  • New School Design: We have a "green team" for the design of our new schools. We are exited about following the NECHPS.
